HOW TO ADD ALL NEW TOWNIES AND NPCs TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD NOTE: If you want to do this in any of your existing neighborhoods, you must empty the Characters folder first, because all the NPCs and Townies are already in existence. If you have TS2 Enhancer, you can use it to remove only the NPCs, Townies, or any of your other Sims that you would like. Then you can run this process, and the game will fill in only the NPCs and Townies who are missing. Otherwise, you will probably want to do this BEFORE you add any Sims to your existing neighborhoods. If you are creating the NPCs and Townies for one of the brand new neighborhoods you have downloaded here, the process can be done either before or after you install any lots that are occupied by Sims. If you add any occupied lots first, then you can choose one of them from which to do this process. If you choose to start every lot from scratch, you will need to make at least one Sim and move him/her to a residential lot. It is necessary to have at least one Sim on a residential lot, because you need to be able to be in Live Mode, and you need the residential Mailbox. Once you have met these conditions, you can proceed as follows: A--In the cheat console (open it by typing CTRL-SHIFT-C), type in: "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" which
enables the cheats you need. You will need to be in Live Mode, and you can't
pause the game, because the process pauses, also. DO NOT SHUT DOWN EITHER THE
GAME OR THE COMPUTER DURING THIS PROCESS. Don't worry if things seem slow. It's
OK. Your Sim's needs levels will hardly move during this process, so you don't
have to worry about that. You should ONLY use the specified options shown below.
If you want to try some of the others, just remember NEVER to "FORCE ERROR" or
you will be sorry. C--Here's where you need to make some choices. I would suggest NOT creating all the NPCs, because they will always appear just when you need them, anyway. There's really not a need to create them all ahead of time. You may also want to only create the DownTownies all at once, and not the Townies (this is assuming you have NightLife--if you don't, there will be no option for DownTownies). If you create the Townies AND the DownTownies, when your Sims go downtown, they will meet more Townies than DownTownies. It's the DownTownies who have more money, so if you create only the DownTownies, your Sims will have a better chance of "marrying up," than if you create all the Townies at once, also! D--If you choose to create all the NPCs, after choosing Neighborhood... on the mailbox, then choose DBG - FORCE Create All NPCs. E--You will be asked, "Create NPCs Now? Answer, "Yes." F--You will be asked, "Use Random Skin Tones?" Answer, "Yes," or "No," whichever is your preference. I assume that if you choose "No," you will be given a choice of which skin tone to use. If you choose, "Yes," the game will begin to create NPCs. You will see three of each category NPC created (the paper delivery person, the mail person, the repair person, etc.) You will get to see tiny photos of each one as they are created, but you won't see their names. Later, during gameplay, you will discover that they have names you haven't seen before in NPCs. This is part of the fun. When all the NPCs have been created (except the Headmaster--don't worry...he will appear when you call him), you will get a notice that the process is completed. That's the end of that process. You can either turn off the cheat by typing, "boolprop testingcheatsenabled false" or you can leave it on to do one or both of the following creations. G--When you choose to create the regular Townies, SHIFT-CLICK on the mailbox. H--Choose Neighborhood... I--Choose DBG - FORCE Create Townies. J--You will see the following dialogue: "Generate Townies now? (v2.0)." At that point, you must choose from three buttons: "Townies," "DownTownies," or "Cancel." To create the regular Townies, click the "Townies" button. The game will begin to create 30 Townies. You will get to see their photos, but no names. Later, during gameplay, you can enjoy meeting the Sims you've never met before. When all the Townies have been created, you will see an info box in the top right corner of your screen, that says, "Done making all the townies." You can turn the cheat off, now, or leave it on to create the DownTownies. K--When you choose to create the DownTownies (the ones with more money), SHIFT-CLICK on the mailbox. L--Choose Neighborhood... M--Choose DBG - FORCE Create Townies. N--You will see the following dialogue: "Generate Townies now? (v2.0)." At that point, you must choose from three buttons: "Townies," "DownTownies," or "Cancel." To create the DownTownies, click the "DownTownies" button. The game will begin to create a number of DownTownies. You will NOT get to see either their photos or their names. It is important to note that an info box will pop up in the top right corner of your screen, that says, "0 DownTownies created." THEN THAT INFO BOX WILL GO AWAY! Don't worry...that's OK! You can go on playing the game at that point, but it will be VERY slow and laggy. You will probably hear your hard drive making some small noises, and you'll keep noticing how slow things are going in the game. It takes between 5-10 minutes for the DownTownies to be created. Once they are, the info box will pop back up, with the message, "Done making all the townies." O--Once you have created all the NPCs, Townies, and/or DownTownies that you want, in the cheat console, type, "boolprop testingcheatsenabled false" which turns off the set of cheats you were just using. P--SAVE and play, if you want to go on using the Sim you created, or exit to the neighborhood and SAVE. You MUST SAVE the game if you want the new NPCs, Townies, and DownTownies to remain in the neighborhood. If you exit without saving, they will be gone, and you'll have to do everything over again. |
