UNZIPPING AND STORING CUSTOM CONTENT Be sure that your game is NOT running when you begin to do the following steps. If your ZIP utility is set to discard the .zip files after expansion, you may want to make a copy of them first, so you can save them for later (in case you have a bad game crash sometime). ---------- These instructions apply to all types of Custom Content. All downloads are zipped files. Unzip them directly to your Downloads folder, or unzip them to a temporary folder then move them to your Downloads folder. If you use Sims2Pack Clean Installer, right click on the folder where you placed the zipped files, then choose "Install All." Clean Installer will install the files to your Downloads folder for you. *** TIP *** If you keep each type of wall in a separate subfolder inside your Downloads folder, you will find the same types right next to each other in your Build Catalog in the game. Do this: Before you start unzipping files, Inside your Downloads folder, put a Walls folder, a Floors folder, a Terrain Paints folder, a Skins folder, and an Objects folder. Inside the Walls folder (for example), put a Gingham-Cinderblock folder. Then add a Gingham-Siding folder. Continue in this manner until you have folders and subfolders for all of your new downloads. You can name the folders anything you want, but make them something that triggers to you what's inside. MY Custom Content will make it easy for you to organize as you install the files using Clean Installer (or just by unzipping them and moving them to the Downloads folder yourself), because I have a unified system of identification and each file is named appropriately...even the walls and floors. You should easily be able to see which piece of Custom Content goes where. If you always organize your Downloads folder appropriately, you will really like the results when you play the game, because all of your new stuff will be easily found. If you've never done this before, Clean Installer can help you do that with all of your other downloads, but you'll have to figure out how to do that, for yourself. |
