*** ABOUT THE MICRONESIA NEIGHBORHOOD & SUBURBS ***

This is a special neighborhood. Many of the spaces between the roads won't be usable for regular lots. The outside roads and some of the inside roads will work with any size lots. However, the main purpose of this neighborhood is to accommodate the mini-lots that were first developed by Andi8104 (at Mod the Sims 2) who created an application called LotExpander. I believe Andi is now deceased and the application is being further developed by another modder at MTS2. I'm telling you this as "history," only. I'm not vouching for or asking you to use LotExpander. I have never used it, and don't intend to.

However, MaryLou (another MTS2 artist and modder) has put together four download packages that contain the smallest lots available anywhere, that were originally created with LotExpander. The first two downloads contain 10 MINI RESIDENTIAL LOTS and the second two downloads contain 10 MINI COMMUNITY LOTS. This neighborhood is perfect for these tiny lots. You can use these links to find the the download pages. The downloads themselves are at the bottom of each page.

Once you have downloaded all four files, you must unpack them. They are .rar files instead of .zip files, so you'll need a utility that will unpack those archives. Once they're unpacked, you will need to double-click the installer files you'll find, to install the lots. Once they're installed, you'll find them in the UNOCCUPIED LOTS part of the Lots Bin--NOT in the blank lots area. Since they are all unoccupied, they will stay in the Lots Bin, even after you use them. When placing any of the lots, just rename them any way you like.

*** ABOUT THE ENTIRE MICRONESIA PROJECT (RULES) ***

Now that you know where to find the mini-lots, perhaps you'd also like to download them, install them, and participate in the ongoing Micronesia Project. I'd like to create a mini-metropolis of these tiny lots. With your help, I hope to fill up this map with nothing but the 10 sizes (1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x5, 2x1, 3x1, 4x1, 5x1, and 6x1) and two types (Residential and Community) of these lots. In case you are wondering, the 3x1 lot is available in the regular game, but only after NightLife is installed. With these lots, it's available to all game configurations. I don't know why no 1x6 lot was included, when there is a 6x1 lot, but that's the way of it.

There are only two requirements for the project lots:

  1. All lots MUST be one of the above-quoted mini-lots. I will not accept or post links or files for any other size lots, for this project.

  2. You must NOT use any type of Custom Content. Everything in the lots must be Maxis-made. You may use anything from the base game, any/every EP, and/or any/every SP. You may not add anything custom at all (not even any HomeCrafter stuff). I will not accept or post links or files for any lot containing anything non-Maxis-made, for this particular project.

On the other hand, I hope you'll create some amazing lots for the project. You can check out tons of them at Mod the Sims 2 if you need some inspiration, but please don't copy any of them directly. Go as tall as you want and use as many innovative cheats and techniques that you want. Make your finished lots as inexpensive or as expensive as you like. Your lots may be occupied or unoccupied. Community lots may be set up as regular stores, parks, etc., or as businesses. Residences may be homes only, or create some wonderful home businesses. None of that matters, and variety is the spice of life. The only absolute requirements are listed above, and I will NOT be flexible with them on this particular project.

As you can see, there is lots of space for all the different sizes of lots, so once you make one, why not try another, or several others. Be inventive, be prolific, and--above all--have fun!

These lots work just fine when uploading to The Exchange, or you may upload them anywhere you like, if you want me to just link to them. If you'd rather, you can zip the lots and send the zipped files to me and I'll post them for download here at Neighborly Sims, with appropriate credit given to each artist. Whichever you prefer, you may let me know about your project lots by using the following e-mail link:
