This version of the Bargain Barn
is now on the TS2 Exchange.
I redid the roof without
any special wall scripts.
It took a little doing,
but I think I like the end result
even better than the original version.
The inside is essentially the same,
with a few small modifications.
The outside is painted
with some of my Barn Red walls
(the original was not).

I wasn't completely happy
with the red walls I already had,
so I created these 12 walls to be
closer to what I was
originally looking for.
Grab 'em while they're "red hot!"

Mayer is running a plant nursery
on his small farm.
The big old barn has been
converted to become his home
(there are 3 bedrooms & 4 baths).
His garage is under the kitchen.
Mayer has unofficially hired two clerks
to watch over the vendor stand.
Once he is Open for Business
they'll be able to sell his plants for him.

Lakeysha has inherited her family's old farm,
which used to be bigger.
She has subdivided it and lives here on the home place.
She has turned the old horse & carriage barn
into a Bed & Breakfast (& garage).
She still farms--in the old Greenhouse
back behind the barn.
The footbridge--built by Lakeysha's grandfather--
leads to the old family home at the rear of the property.

Fortuna Cash and Mayer Marwood.
Mayer lives right next door,
and Fortuna lives across the lake.
(By the way, this is not Fortuna's
FIRST pregnancy.
The twins are already in school.)
That's The Carpet Emporium behind them.
 

Here we have Familio, Fortuna,
and Fortunata Cash, joined by
a neighborhood (Townie) teenager.
Fortunata is one of the twins
that Fortuna will have
(of course, YOU don't have to
name her that). :-)

Great job on this lot, Nanette!

First of all, I intended to create
an older couple with a teenage daughter.
Then I decided that the father
should be a widower with a teenage daughter.
I have Sims2Enhancer to make that happen,
but I wanted the daughter to really have
both parents' DNA, so I created
the whole family in the game,
as two young parents with a teenager.

Then I went through several stages
to finally reach an elder widower
with a legitimate teenage daughter,
and both of them have the actual
memories of the deceased wife and mother.

Then I felt guilty about actually killing
my very first Sim ever! Yikes!
So...in the following entries,
I'm offering you your choice
of any or all of the three
versions of the Read family.
You may use them in any house(s) you like,
but they were created for this one.

NOTE: When you download any or all
of the family versions,
you will get a Lot to install.
Just install it anywhere in the neighborhood,
then quickly visit the lot.
You can go out without saving,
but you MUST visit the lot.
Then you can use the MOVE tool
to put the family in the bin,
so that they may then be moved
anywhere in the neighborhood you like.
If you want to use the families
in multiple neighborhoods,
just install the lots multiple times

Kevin Read = Handsome Red-Head
Inez Read = Pure Red-Head
Manda Read = Much-Loved Red-Head

When Manda was created in the game,
I accepted the first image that came up.
I thought she was lovely.

When you put this family in a lot,
they immediately start having fun together,
they are so compatible.
This is one teenager
who may be able to make it
to young-adulthood with no problems!

In this version of the Read family,
Inez has unexpectedly passed away
due to a sudden heart attack
at the end of a day.
In this picture,
Manda has been crying
over the loss of her mother,
and Kevin has just hugged her
to comfort her,
which made them both feel better.
They are very close,
and I think they will do fine
as a widower with a teenager to raise.

Kevin has Inez' tombstone in his inventory.

This is the way I chose to go. The picture on the left was taken during the afternoon, while Kevin and Inez were having a nice slow-dance out by the street. Manda and her friends were swimming in the pool.

Just a little later, while cleaning up a mess that someone left in the downstairs bathroom, Inez had a heart attack and died, leaving Kevin a widow, and Manda motherless.

On this first night after her mom's death, Manda isn't quite sure how to handle the loss. Kevin is about to go and comfort her. In just a short while they'll place the urn near the fireplace upstairs, and both will get some much-needed rest...to begin their new lives together the next day. I think they'll do just fine, and they'll always have their memories of Inez.

When Sondra decided to drop this asset
from her TS2 Exchange page,
I asked permission to make it
a direct download from this site,
with a couple of slight renovations
I have made to it in my own game.
She graciously gave her permission.

The first bank of pictures to the left
(click on all pictures to get larger views)
is the original Bayside Farmer's Market.

The only thing I have changed
is the rooftop area.
I needed a restaurant in Lakebridge,
and didn't have one yet,
so I added the kitchen items
to this rooftop.
Then I removed the umbrellas,
because with the kitchen,
they just didn't fit quite right.
Then I added the new, clear awning
above the whole rooftop area,
and that's it!
The whole bottom floor is
just as it was before.

I hope you'll avail yourself
of this lovely little market.

for the third time.
The twins are now bright teenagers,
and there's a toddler in the house, too.

MY THANKS TO ECHO

for this wonderful set of farm items. I had a blast creating these two lots. The apples, grapes, lettuce, and cabbage can all be sold for profit. Before that, though, the must be watered and tended, then harvested. I discovered that if you just hire the regular gardener, you will be out more money than you make, but it's still fun watching the gardener work in the garden. When OFB comes out, Colley can set up a REAL business, and hire some salespeople. These items are fun now, and should be even greater then.

The Athletic Center perfectly compliments
the Shopping Center,
and fits beautifully in line
with the Farmer's Market.

In my game, Fortuna Cash
has purchased the Athletic Center,
and has installed payment portals
at the entranceways.
There's nothing here to sell,
but the Athletic Center
has become rather an exclusive club
for the residents of Lakebridge.

The Four Maples is an upscale restaurant,
where the citizens of Lakebridge
love to go for a fine meal.

This lot is slightly larger than
Maple Athletic Center and
Maple Shopping Center.
It also has its signature
"four maples" on the lot.
In Lakebridge, I felt that the lot
fit better in a place NOT
in the town center.

It is located right next to
Tregarthe Manor, just one house down
from Southern Contentment
(where Kevin and Manda Read live).

In these pictures, Manda
and some of the other upstanding
citizens of Lakebridge are
enjoying themselves at the restaurant.
