This never
did really end up as the contest I intended it to be, but instead
became the first of a line of big projects for Neighborly Sims, and
marked the beginning of our
FORUM. Thanks, thanks, thanks to everyone who participated. You were all extremely wonderful, and this project was a huge BLAST! |

Tiny Place by Linda (linarwing) Aiza = Cliff or Rock Aiza Sierra lives out on the ledge--a Rock on a sheer cliff, overlooking both Wilderness Lake and the ocean surrounding Wilderness Island. He has built his Tiny Place on Wilderness Island as a summer home. However, he feels he may stay even longer. Since it has taken all his savings to just build this little house, he has taken a part-time job as a test subject with a local scientist. Of course, he has to take the ferry to the mainland for his job, since there ARE no places to work on the island (yet). NOTE: Aiza's clothing is found in the Family Fun Stuff Pack. The lot will work if you don't have FFS, but Aiza will probably show up in a SUIT, from what I've heard! Sorry about that! Also, Tiny Place was "archived" on my Sim Page after just NINE downloads...probably the very same day I uploaded it! So if you'd like to download it now, the link above is for a direct download from this site. Read Aiza's story HERE. |

Neighborly Island
Cottage (ORIGINAL)
Neighborly Island Cottage by Liz (Freggi36) Neighborly Island {Cottage} was created as a gift--especially for Wilderness Island. I usually feature at least one special lot by Liz in each neighborhood. As such, this is a bonus lot, in that it is worth more than the other homes, at about $140,000. Don't worry, though. The family I created to live in the house had plenty of money to buy the place, which is wonderfully playable! In my game, I added a few things to Liz' original lot, and it is now a home business. As you can see in the two pictures directly to the far left, there is a row of Potted Spiral Plants out by the swimming pool. These have become the base for Norris' "plant nursery" business. Under the gazebo roof, she has laid out her little business area, including a floral station (see below). The Bonds ARE living in this house in the download (which is directly from this site). Here is the meaning of their names: Bond = Peasant Farmer This is not QUITE how this little family started out. In the beginning, both Shannon and Norris were quite fit. However, Norris (being the motherly person she is) seems to like to cook even when they don't NEED to eat, and they both love to chow down. They need to get into that swimming pool more often! Siskin is slightly less than a day away from becoming a school-age child. She lacks only the last bit of potty-training to have all her skills. Plus she has some good creativity skills already built. As you can see, Shannon is working on a medical career, and since he's a Knowledge Sim, he's doing very well. Norris is a good mom. In my version of the lot (which is what you get in this download) Norris has put baby-tending things out in the gazebo, which is the perfect space for a home plant business. The only time she needs to actually go into the house during business hours, is to use the bathroom. You could solve THAT, by building a small bathroom somewhere near the pool, perhaps. Oh! By the way! Norris is pregnant again, I believe (can't remember for sure if the download was made before or after this big event), so even though Siskin will soon outgrow these items, you might still want to keep them all in place. :-) Read about the Bonds HERE. |

Wilderness Cottage by Wendy (hillcrest1414) Emma Greenacre and her little girl Lily are an absolutely delightful family! I had a great time creating their story, though I made too many pictures at once and then got them all goofed up, then had to go back and recreate, and...well...it wasn't the easiest story to write. It will be up to your imagination to figure out what happened to Lily's dad. Suffice it to say that the two young ladies have moved away from the city to find a quieter way of life on Wilderness Island. One word of warning. When you go into the lot, Emma is going to be ready to make a meal for Lily. I chose pancakes. The bad news is, the very first event was a BIG fire in the kitchen! The good news is, there's a smoke alarm already installed! Read the fun story about Emma and Lily HERE.

Woodcutter's Cabin (Direct Download) by Wendy (hillcrest1414) This asset is no longer available on the TS2 Exchange. When you click the link above, it will immediately become a download window. Amos Oakley is an elderly gentleman who has retired after many years as a woodcutter. He is a shy man and enjoys the simple things in life. He has never coveted material things and is happy with just the necessities, although friends have recently persuaded him to invest in a telephone and a smoke alarm. He enjoys painting and listening to his radio. Amos has led a solitary life. Now, with more time on his hands, he’s hoping to make a few friends. He has heard there's an older lady living just across the lake from him. Perhaps he'll meet Betty and some sparks will fly! Read about Amos HERE. |

Green for Grins by Corvi corvidophile2 Damien Rice is named after Corvi's favorite singer. He used to have an art gallery in the city, but it didn't go as expected. With the money he had saved, Damien decided to move to Wilderness Island, where he hopes to be inspired and find his muse. Damien is a very nice and talented man, who loves kids and cats. He hates driving, since the accident that caused his parents to die--causing him to be raised in an orphanage. That's another reason he likes Wilderness Island--he can get around without a car. Purchasing this waterfront cottage has left him pretty well broke. However, he has already started painting, in the hope that he will earn some money for his living. He also has a secondary plan of action, since he likes to make toys. He ought to be able to sell one or the other to the people on this small island. He does know one of the people living on the island already. Corvi and her son Angel have promised to stop by and visit him soon, after he has a chance to get moved in thoroughly. Read about Damien's first day on Wilderness Island, HERE. |

Midsummer by Liz (Freggi36) Also check out
SimWorld Midsummer is a lovely, older-style home that sits right at the bottom of the Wilderness Island Lighthouse. In the past, the family who lived in the house were the Keepers of the Light. Nowadays, the light is programmed by computer, so there is no need for a regular lightkeeper. This is a medium-sized house, so should not be considered for too-large a family. It does have a good amount of yard space, however, for those who love the great outdoors. When I make a family for this lot (or when YOU send me one), I'll post a story. Until then, it has none. |

Rustic Memories by Corvi corvidophile2 Rustic Memories is a peaceful waterfront retreat for the whole family. Any Sim can relax here, and enjoy the scenery. The lot features a swimmable lake in the back, and it has been thoroughly play-tested. Rustic Memories sits on a 3x4 lot. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, but there's lots of room for adjustment. There's a screened sunroom, a wrap-around porch, a covered rear porch, an attic, a two-car garage, and a main-floor master suite with an elevated jacuzzi. The garage is used as a recreation/work area. Out in front, there is exactly space for two driveways. Corvi reports that she uses an invisible driveway by roddyaleixo, at MTS2, in her game (you can find it HERE), so she left the spaces blank, here. At just $94,250, this wonderful "cabin" is a great bargain! Download the Harrison family below. |
![]() This is when Thomas Gasp "dropped by" the house with little Data (while finding his way home--see below). In a very short time after Thomas and Data left, Electra and Jeremy had yet another spat, and were just apologizing to each other (over and over again), when the rest of the chain of events began. As you can see by the final picture, even though Jeremy and Electra are cooperating, they are still far from leading a harmonious life as new parents! Let's hope little Jem and Lex (or whatever you name them in YOUR game) don't suffer because of these problems! |
Rustic Memories-- The Harrison Family
Download the
Harrisons, by Corvi corvidophile2 Electra and Jeremy Harrison were happily married...until they moved to their new home on Wilderness Island. Electra--a young, fiery redhead--is used to life in the big city, and she doesn't like it at all on this tiny island. Jeremy--a mature man in his 50s, just wants a peaceful place to start a family at last. They are at the edge of breaking up while they wait for their baby to be born. Jeremy has been doing his best to please his darling wife, but she is not making it easy. Jeremy can't help wondering if Electra just married him for his money in the first place. Will they manage to work things out, or will their previous years together just become nothing more than "rustic memories"? As you can see by these pictures, there are some interesting events that will happen in this family very soon after you move them into their home! |

Nature's Call
by Corvi corvidophile2 If your Sims need a place to relax and enjoy the scenery, this is it--a peaceful Tudor cottage nestled in the woods. Built on a 3x4 lot, Nature's Call has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an underground garage, a walkout basement, and more. Priced at only $141.060, it also features a lake with an arched bridge, a well, a backyard barbecue area, and other great family areas. Nature's Call is fully furnished and landscaped, except for the basement, so your Sims can adjust that area to their needs. Corvi says, "I created a grocery market in the basement, and my Sims became rich!" She also informs us, "The flower boxes won't annoy the gardener {because he can't get to them to maintain the plants}, because I haven't used flower beds, but installed lily pads instead." When I make a family for this lot (or when YOU send me one), I'll post a story. Until then, it has none. |

Briarwood Harmony by Sondra (jthaofficer) Andrew Briarwood, his wife Pepper, and their daughter Tara are living a quiet and comfortable life on Wilderness Island, at Briarwood Harmony--tucked up under Aiza's Hill, right behind Betty Henderson's house. By the way, that IS the front of the house in the first picture! As recent transplants from the big city, they are adjusting to a slower-paced life. Andrew--formerly a writer of a sports column in the city--came to the realization that his little girl was growing up so fast and he was missing out on everything because he was so busy with this career. He was spending three hours a day on the train commuting from the suburbs to the city. He felt that he was neglecting his family--especially Pepper, who wants to have more children. Andrew decided to sell their enormous home, cash in his 401K ,and make a go of it trying to write a novel. Things are going quite well, and the family is closer than ever before, and thriving. <---The picture directly to the left shows the way the swimmable lake looks now. There was a "leak" that allowed Sims to swim out into the rest of the lot, but Sondra has now fixed that. The download link is for the corrected lot shown here. She also moved the dresser in the master bedroom, which had been preventing one side of the double bed from being used. You can begin reading about the Briarwood Family HERE. |

![]() Waldemar Tanne--an unsuccessful manager--has had enough of the daily stress of working for someone else. He wants to take time to relax and decide what he should do with the rest of his life. His wife Sonja is an artist and can work anywhere, so why not have a home business?. The family will soon decide whether or not they should stay on the island full time--working for themselves--or whether they should just keep their house as a summer home, and go back to the mainland to find work. NOTE: I think I've gotten this close. Liz has translated the German for me, but even then there are words and ideas I probably missed. Sometimes it takes several efforts to get it straight. Plus I embellished it a bit. :-) |

CEP v6 (Color Enabler Package) MUST BE INSTALLED IN YOUR GAME, FOR
MANY simPE RECOLORS TO WORK. Sonja and Waldemar Tanne live in this lovely home that has been contributed by Bonky--a German TS2 player. The German version of the family's story is below--the translated English version is at the left: "Waldemar Tanne, ein erfolgloser Manager hat genug vom täglichen Streß. Er will sich endlich mal ausspannen und sich seinen weiteren beruflichen Weg überlegen. Seiner Frau Sonja ist es egal. Sie kann als Künstlerin überall arbeiten. Warum nicht auch im Ferienhaus? Beide überlegen sich, ob sie nicht für immer hier im Haus Waldschrat bleiben wollen." ---------- Read the Tanne's AMAZING story HERE! |

![]() ![]() When I received this house, I wondered what the name meant. I knew "Haus" meant "House," but "Lachmoewe" I didn't recognize. So I went to the Google page and used their easy language tools to translate the words. The free translator told me that "Haus Lachmoewe" meant "House of the Laughing Seagulls," so I named the lot "Seagull House" in my game, and located it here:
As you can see, there are seagulls wheeling overhead, from the rocks at the left--the perfect spot, right? Well...when I wrote about this to Liz, she informed me that "Lachmoewe" has nothing to do with seagulls. It evidently has more to do with "the forest!" So much for the Google language tools! Regardless...the lot is still Seagull House in my game, and I like the way it looks there. There are plenty of trees, too, so the forest name works, as well. :-) PS (07/07/06)--Stoffel 76 now says that the seagull name is just fine! :-) |
Haus Lachmoewe by Stoffel76 Juri Schmirnoff lives in Haus Lachmoewe. Ruhige Randlage." Here's the (hopefully correct) English version (it made me laugh): Juri Schmirnoff is the island Casanova. His weekend house has long been one of his dreams. He doesn’t have any ambition other than just having fun!. Juri's hobby is looking at beautiful women wearing bikinis. Since he is unemployed, it would be better if he ends up marrying (shudder) a woman with a small fortune. This woman should also be willing to admire Juri and pat him on the back at least once every day--that’s basically all he requires. As for his house, he enjoys the fact that it is really a nice, relaxing place, that doesn’t need a lot of work to maintain. ---------- Read about Juri's first day on Wilderness Island, HERE. Sea View by porkypine The playful Otter Brothers, Tomas and Paul, have just graduated with High Honors from college, after attending year-round classes for four solid years. They plan to make up for lost time before they make the decision to return to college for their Doctorates or to find jobs. Will they find cute girlfriends during summer break? Will they party too much and not want to return to college in the fall? Or will they decide to tackle the job market? Their future will all depend on how this long overdue summer of fun and freedom turns out, and on YOU! NOTE: The Otter Brothers have not really been to University in this version of the lot. Agnes Crumplebottom and Gabriela Martinique |
Wilderness Island Mini-Condos by porkypine Gabriella Martinique, the secret owner of the Mini-Condos, just moved into Unit 1. Islanders think a corporation owns the lot, and that suits Gabriella just fine. She wants to just fit in and see what life is really like on the island. Perhaps she can find an intelligent but fun-loving man who will love her for herself--not her money. The "corporation" employs Agnes Crumplebottom (sister-in-law to the notorious downtown Crumplebottom) to manage the units. Agnes--a knowledge Sim--absolutely loves her central unit situated at the top of the stairway. From here, she monitors everything. She's the self-appointed moral guardian who is not shy about expressing displeasure at any public 'hanky panky." Who will move into the third unit? Will it be an intelligent fun-loving man for Gabriella? Or will the Crump finally find a sweetheart? Will Gabriella innocently bring home a potential beau, only to see the Crump scare him off? We must wait and see. This part of the story has been added to the Exchange. It will be growing and changing later. Find the story HERE. SPECIAL NOTE: There's a big difference in this lot in my game, now, over when it was installed. Porkypine has told me that she loves to make her lots look like "jungles." You may like yours that way, too. This lot looked very beautiful, with all its extra trees, shrubs, etc. However, my computer simply won't handle all the extra greenery, so I was forced to take out a good many of the green things. For me, now, the lot is much easier to play. You can choose which way YOU want to go, when you download and install this lot. |

SPECIAL NOTE: There's a big difference in this lot in my game, now, over when it was installed. Porkypine has told me that she loves to make her lots look like "jungles." You may like yours that way, too. This lot looked very beautiful, with all its extra trees, shrubs, etc. However, my computer simply won't handle all the extra greenery, so I was forced to have Leandra do some yard work (grin), and prune the overly-lush landscape. For me, now, the lot is much easier to play. You can choose which way YOU want to go, when you download and install this lot. Leandra's story is HERE. |

Taxi Drop by Linda (linarwing) I made the (1x3) Taxi Drop lot to scatter around the island (see the locator map) I have seven of them in strategic places. This is #1--across the corner from Corvi's house (Lake Like Live--Love Take Give), and across the street (to its right) from Betty's house (Wilderness Island Retreat). These are handy spots for your Wilderness Island Sims to stop when taking "walks" around the island. While taking a break, they can use the restrooms, buy a magazine, buy an electronic device (cell phone, etc.), play a little chess, play darts, make some coffee or grab a snack (small fridge and microwave), sit or stand to wait for a taxi, or just spend time gabbing with friends and acquaintances. The pansies and the trees will help your Sims enjoy their environment, too. These Taxi Drops will be appearing in many of the stories for island residents. |

Granny's Gourmet and Goodies
After raising her kids in the fast-paced city, empty-nester, Granny Smith, moved to Wilderness Island to pursue a lifelong dream of running her own diner and gift shop. The serene life on Wilderness Island must agree with her dream, as friends flock from all over town to come to their favorite spot--Granny's Gourmet and Goodies. Yo! See Granny's story HERE! SPECIAL NOTE #1: I really wanted to have Granny's shop be a Community lot, so I could take other Sims there from their own homes. In order to make that happen, I added the community trash can to go with the phone that's already there. I found out, though, that though the lot is then listed as a Community lot when you use another Sim's car or the taxi, when you try to GO there, GRANNY will load, and be the controlled Sim. Your other Sim will not show up, nor will the vehicle. It actually seems as if they may BE there, though INVISIBLE, because I watched doors opening and closing when no other Sims were near them. The Home Business works, otherwise, while you are there, but you will never see your OTHER Sim at all, regardless of how long you wait. The other thing that happens is that there IS a photo album (normally Community lots DON'T have albums), but the album doesn't belong to Granny. It belongs to the Sim who was trying VISIT Granny's shop! You could, then, add pictures to that album, but they would never contain that Sim! Also, if you left Granny's lot as a Community lot, you would never be able to play her in her own lot (you can't get into it), and you would never have a story album for her! In order to get the lot back to a Residential lot, I took a chance and did the "changelotzoning residential" cheat, and suddenly I had the option to SAVE the lot! Normally you CAN'T save Community lots! So I WAS able to save the lot BEFORE exiting to the neighborhood (which does NOT save, in this case). So now Granny's shop is back to being a Residential Home Business only, in my game. That's really the only practical way to play it. I have a workaround figured out, and if you'd like to know what it is, please e-mail me. SPECIAL NOTE #2: When you install this lot, you will get a home that has NOT been turned into a Home Business! All the right equipment is there, and the NPCs to run the equipment are there. However, they are NOT hired employees, and you have (and Granny has) no power over them. In order to correctly run the Home Business, you need to "trash" the NPCs, use the phone to open a new Home Business, and then to hire employees. You could open the business and leave the NPCs intact for a while, but don't count on them to do what they're supposed to do! It would save you some cash outlay, though, while the business was getting a reputation (hopefully a good one). In my story, I didn't do it that way, and I am paying for it. :-) |

Lakeshore Cabin by Trent (Trntstr4) Short family story: Drew and Hannah Ausmus are newcomers to Wilderness Island; they've just recently moved from their little apartment in the big city. They've decided that Wilderness Island is the best place for them to start fresh and raise a family together. Will their sudden lack of some popular conveniences keep them from being happy, or will they be content just roughing it? About the lot: Lakeshore Cabin is worth §40,505 and is on a small 3x2 lot. It has a unique A-frame structure that has two bedrooms (one used as a nursery) and one bathroom, with a large family area that includes the kitchen and dining room. Lakeshore Cabin is located right next to Juri Schmirnoff's Seagull House, up on the bluff. I think Trent built it on the shore of the lake in the center of the island, but I couldn't get it to fit anywhere except the spot I'm saving for something else, so I put it up on the bluff, and it fits perfectly in that location. The Ausmus' story is HERE. You'll want to see this one for sure, for a bit of a surprise. |
Trina Tory has moved into Wilderness Creek Cottage, after inheriting it from a rich uncle. She had never intended to live in such a tiny community, and is a bit frustrated, because she wants to be a big-time financial operative. Since the house was there and she really had no way to move into anything else, she took it, and has moved to the island to try to still make a success out of her life. She is just about ready to open a home business...or not...depending on what other career opportunities she finds in the paper or online. She does enjoy the great outdoors, and has already fallen in love with her cottage, so life should be interesting for her, to say the least. Read the beginning of Trina's story HERE. |
Wilderness Creek Cottage by Linda (linarwing) I created this lot way back when HomeCrafter Plus was first out, because I made my first terrain paints for the creek, with pictures that I had taken of the drainage ditches that run by the streets in our neighborhood. I had downloaded a lot in the Exchange that contained a transplanted Don Lothario. I had no idea about his history, and didn't know much about personality types and all that, at the time. I wanted a guy to move in as a bachelor, find a good wife, marry, and have children, and believe it or not, Don met all those goals admirably, even though he was a Romance Sim! The house started with only the bottom floor, and as Don's family grew, the house did, too. The first child to be born was alien, as I had left Don to himself while going off to do dishes or something (oops). When I got back to my game, he had JUST been abducted, and I waited anxiously for him to return. To make THAT long story short, though, he married while pregnant, his wife got pregnant, and they had two lovely daughters--one green and one pale and blond. However, I LOST this family in a major computer crash that happened when I was playing my favorite neighborhood. I was able to rescue every file on my computer but the ones to that particular neighborhood. They were just gone, except for a tiny fragment here or there (sigh). This house and several others I had packaged, so had them to do over, but then I had problems with the terrain paints. After Maxis fixed that problem, I was able to play the houses again, but hadn't done so until now. I ran across them both when adding lots to the island, and thought they would be perfect, so here's the first one. The other one used to be called "The House Next Door," but for Wilderness Island it will be called "Wilderness Creek Cabin." Check the locator map (above) to see where these two renovated homes are located. |

Mike's Car Workshop (ORIGINAL) by Liz (Freggi36) Also check out
SimWorld Does your Sim have a broken-down car? Take it to Mike's Car Workshop, where cars can be fixed for very few simoleons! (NOTE--Cars cannot really be repaired in the game, unfortunately--it's not a career track. Maxis should DO that, don't you think?) In the center of the complex there's a small retail shop. Now if we just had some gas pumps! Liz designed this car workshop in honor of her husband Mike, who is a computer tech by day, and a car enthusiast by night. It seems Mike likes nothing more than to get together with a bunch of friends in his garage, and get out the screwdrivers! |

Wilderness Creek
Cabin by Linda (linarwing) This is the renovated house that was designed to be "The House Next Door" for what is now Wilderness Creek Cottage. As you can see, the creek goes from the left side of the Cottage to the right side of the Cabin, and the terrain paints carry through, as well. When I received Mike's Car Workshop from Liz, I knew that I wanted Mike (Screwdriver) Bear to move into the Cabin. These photos were taken after Mike moved in. This unique download contains Mike (Screwdriver) Bear (created by Liz) occupying the lot. This version of the download will never be available anywhere else. If you just want to get the Screwdriver skin, you can download it above. |

Mike's Car Workshop (REMODELED) Remodeled by Linda (linarwing) When I installed Mike's Car Workshop (the original), I decided to try to create the lifts that would normally be installed above the pits (see the pictures above). Liz' design made it fairly easy to add a dummy level at the top of each garage, shrink it down, then lower the previous ceiling level in the center of the buildings just right to allow Mike and his employees to still walk down into the pits yet be able to walk up on the platform to sell the cars. Selling the cars--now that took some doing. I had never done this before, and I had to search for info about it. Thanks to Mike (SpottedFry) (read his BLOG) when I asked about it over at the SIMPosium, I learned what to do. I won't tell you the process here. Mike's BLOG entry is quite well-written and informative. I'm actually not sure whether or not the cars will automatically show up in this download. If they don't, either check out Mike's BLOG, or send me an e-mail, and I'll explain the process. After I got the platforms and the cars in place, I put the Robot Workstation in the left pit and the Toy Workstation in the right pit. When a "mechanic" works at the workstations, the first thing they do is pick up BIG tools--at the Robot station, which Mike tried out first, the very first thing he did was grab a screwdriver! How appropriate! |

Do YOU have a Sim to occupy this lot? |
Pioneeri by m618915 M618915 hasn't given us a name, and didn't provide a family for this little starter house, but the house is perfect for Wilderness Island. You will definitely want to download this little beauty for your game, even if you aren't using Wilderness Island. It's a real winner. As you can see by the photos, the upstairs bedroom is accessed by a set of stealth stairs (see the bottom left corner of the living room). Thus, the living space is maximized for your Sims. If you look at the locator map, you can see that it is placed at the bottom center of the picture (which is actually the top center the way I usually use the island). From Pioneeri, your Sims will be able to see Emma's house, Amos' home, both of the Wilderness Creek lots, and several others, depending on the angle of view. There's also an excellent ocean view. |
