*** Special Note about the Flatlands *** Lovely Island was constructed purposely, so that the low-lying land areas would be able to make use of the natural ground water. You will probably notice that whenever you place a lot in the flatlands, you may not be able to go down even one click into the firmament without having the water table pop through. If you want basements, you should probably build on one of the hills. If you want swimmable ponds and lakes that have real water in them, this is the place to try out your techniques.
In the second picture, you can see that the area out in front of the fence (which keeps the Sims from swimming out into the rest of the lot) is NOT tiled, and that it's slightly lower than the beach area or the swimming area. This allows your Sims to walk right into the water to wade, or they can watch the clouds, stargaze, or hang out with friends, right there in the water (be sure you level a few grid spaces for this to happen). The dog will walk right into the water, too.
If you don't want water to show
up in your flatland areas, just raise your land levels a bit once
you get into the lots, and the water table will not seep through.
I'd highly recommend, though, that you do NOT try to place basements
in those areas. Hope you have fun trying something new. :-) |

| Freggi built this lot for her (alien) Bommel character. The story goes that Bommel is a vegetarian, so she has offered the lot up for sale to interested parties in her own neighborhood. Freggi is giving you the chance to snap it up, too! I believe you'll have to register for the Alien Bommel forum in order to get this fun lot, and it's all in German, but it's not hard to figure out if you are used to joining forums. | Bluewater Place works very well right next to the blue water of Lovely Island. The download has the Japanese Autumn Maple tree where the Lollipop trees are in these pictures. Once again, I chose a beach location, so the pictures here will be different from what you see on the download page. | |||

| When Liz told me about Green Mellow and I saw it, I thought it would be perfect for Lovely Island because of its airy exterior and serendipitous interior. It's a great little island getaway for some fortunate Sim. | |||

versions of the Little Boat House. The two versions are identical
except this one has a faux (non-working) garage. Skye says, "This
little house shaped like a boat is perfect for the Sim who dreams of
the sea but gets seasick just standing on the beach! No bobbing or
rolling--this 1 bed, 1 bath is firmly rooted to the ground but still
carries the illusion of sailing free for that special
wanna-be-sailor Sim!" NOTE: You'll note another difference with my in-game pictures, that will only happen on Lovely Island or another neighborhood with a very shallow beach area. See the "Carport" version for special pictures. |

This is the second of two
versions of the Little Boat House. The two versions are identical
except this one has a working carport. Skye says, "This
little house shaped like a boat is perfect for the Sim who dreams of
the sea but gets seasick just standing on the beach! No bobbing or
rolling--this 1 bed, 1 bath is firmly rooted to the ground but still
carries the illusion of sailing free for that special
wanna-be-sailor Sim!" NOTE: You'll note another difference with my in-game pictures, that will only happen on Lovely Island or another neighborhood with a very shallow beach area. Because I placed this lot (it would work with either version) on the very shallowest part of Lovely Island's beach area, the natural ground water seeps through into the swimmable lake area. (See Special photos just above.) Unlike with my own special swimmable beach areas which are made a little differently, Skye never intended this to happen. Therefore, your Sims will swim just fine in the little pool, but you won't be able to see their whole bodies. Most of the time they'll also be swimming with their heads under water, but don't worry...Sims are able to hold their breath indefinitely. As you can see by the second photo, Cap Shipman's head does come above the water level at the edges of the pool where he can get near the surface of the ground. |

| This little shop & cafe built by Wendy reminds me of many such places down in the cities of Newport Beach, or Laguna Beach, California, where many of the old homes and businesses along the Coast Highway have been transformed into trendy little shops and restaurants. As with many of those places, this little treasure lies right at the edge of the beach--what a lovely place to shop or just hang out for a while! | |||

| Erica is becoming quite a nice builder. I downloaded and used a couple of her lots at Christmas, in the Beaches neighborhood, and really liked what she had to offer. Recently she contacted me about this Spring 2007 lot, which was made to participate in the Exchange Spring project. This is really a nice, playable lot, even as big as it is. It's not overdone, and has many nice community activities for Sims--including both the roller rink and the ice rink. There is also swimming and fishing. Great going, Erica--this is a great addition for any neighborhood, and fits very nicely on Lovely Island. Thank you! | |||

| The Taxi Stand is a remodeled version of the Taxi Drop that I used on Wilderness Island. It's a community lot that has a little newsstand that includes a cell-phone machine, some bench seating, a chess table, a dartboard, restrooms, a little refreshment area with a well-stocked refrigerator, and a payphone kiosk. Use of these Taxi Stands in judicious spots in a neighborhood gives you a chance to have your Sims "take a walk" in their neighborhood. You can have them take the taxi (or drive their cars) to a Taxi Drop, then you can take pictures of them visiting with the Sims they meet during their little outings. Because the lots are so tiny, playing these community lots is painless. | |||

| On Lovely Island, down on the flatlands, The Monterey is surrounded by water on three sides, as you can see by the pictures. Unless your beach area is the thinnest and flattest it can be, this won't happen. The Monterey would be a wonderful place for any Sim family to vacation--whether surrounded by water or not! | |||

The Romantic Heart is a great
place for your Sims to go for their dream dates. The cafe is superb,
and there are plenty of other activities for them to enjoy as they
get to know each other better. NOTE: If you have any problems placing a lot in this Lovely Island location, just move the windmill a bit and take out the trees at the edge of the hill. Some neighborhood trees can't be written over by lots, and the type I put there can't. You can replace them with other neighborhood trees if you like, after the lot is placed. |

 The cabin, though a cozy
little place inside, is rather dreary on the outside, and it sits in a low spot in the land, so that
the ground is always soggy. Not much daylight reaches through the
trees, even in sunny weather. Cabin fever sets in pretty easy in a
place like this. However, in this particular case, there's a way
out. The lovely, airy, secret garden is just a few steps...up...and away. Can you
find the stairs that lead to the wonderful sunny park flying high
above the dark, dour cabin? (HINT: See "Cabin Detail" Photo #3.)Here's a shot of Tree Climber, for those who may want to download the occupied version. When you enter the lot in that version, Tree is up in the garden, and he knows how to find his way down. :-) NOTE: Lisa has just informed me that for some reason Tree Climber did not retain his name when the lot was installed in her game! This has happened before, since the Pets EP came along. Tree has never had any other name in my game, so we don't know WHY he gets a different game, but he did, in her game. If you download him and install him and he comes up with a different name, please e-mail me what that name is. Thanks! |

| The Stork Hotel, though quite a lovely place, has gotten itself a bit of a reputation. It seems that its regular patrons don't frequent the hotel to sleep--just to relax. Furthermore, the reference to "storks" in the name is NOT coincidence! | |||
