So glad to be bringing up good memories Linda! You'll have to stack your suitcase with them EVIL LAUGH

You're only just getting mushy peas Wendy? You've been missing out!
Well Lisa I think I am going to try real had to loose some weight this year. Perhaps I will feel less stress on me old legsROTFL
You have done so wonderfully that I must give it a better try.

Oat meal. I like the minute Oat in microvave too...not the bag stuff.
My problem is I like globs of butter and brown sugar with it.
Oh and toast on the side.FROWN

That may need to changeROTFL
Your tastes really do change Kim...I have been a little naughty the last week, but I don't have the same appetite for baddies that I used to have.
We should all try to come up with a "healthy version" that seems like its not, I'm thinking maybe mixing in some polana all fruit (its an all fruit jam) or maybe honey and cinnamin??? Who knows, maybe we could find some yummy versions of our own_lol Maybe even making it with juice instead of water would do the trick, like apple juice I bet would be sweet and tasty
Apple juice is a nice idea!
Yum!
I bought some oats today, now I'm searching for a fat free oatmeal cookie recipie, I've just finished shopping for a low cholesterol diet, I need to do something about that
Good for you Susan FRIENDS Good luck, I wish you lots of will power, the first few days are the hardest as you break old habits!
Thanks Poppy, I hope to learn from your example here, we still have chinese food in the fridge though, but I so want to get healthier that I don't think thats going to bother me much.

found a mayonaise made with canola oil too, looks pretty good, taste pretty good too_lol
Susan, I'll warn you about two serious diet things that I've learned about through the years. The first is that in the 1980s women in their 30s started dropping of heart attacks. At first the doctors couldn't figure out a reason and then they realized that many of these women were on fat free diets. Your heart actually burns fat as its fuel, so it needs fat to survive. So please, don't go totally fat free. The second thing is that many people go on diets and start using all these sugar-free products made from artificial sweeteners. However, no one was actually seeming to lose weight with these. Then, when they did research, they found that artificial sweeteners made people even more hungry and people would often gain weight using them instead of losing weight (and don't even get me started on the brain tumors and other things these fake foods cause). So, stay away from the artificial stuff. WINK
Good luck Susan
Sugar free products are very dangerous and can cause so many problems with the body, I don't use replacements but have cut down the fat and carbs and eating more and more fruit, but not too much I was getting really tired and realised I wasn't eating enough carbs lol

and trying to exercise more.
That's VERY good advice, Lisa! Good job! Your diet of moderation is REALLY an inspiration...now I just need to grab it and go with it!!!
Good luck to you Linda, I hope you can FRIENDS

oh, and I am not cutting out sugar totally, just instead of having at a bag of treats I'm sticking to the serving size and noticing how much I'm eating, I don't like artificial sweeteners, if I got a diet soda by accident (like at a drive thru which does happen) I'll drink it but I wont like it_lol

I did go fat free a few years back and felt lousy so I stopped it, I figured out I needed some fat, I'm sure I had some fat today somehow, that mayo has a tad bad fat and alot of good fat, had some snacks too, they say 0 cholesterol, but then say a tad saturated fat, which must mean not enough to register, it does get confusing reading those lables, anyway, I plan to have lean meats and that will ensure I get some fat,

so what happens if I only get the good fats in my diet (not that I think that will actually happen) is that healthy or do you need saturated fats too??????

Poppy, you're going to have to ship us all some UK goodies! that sounds yummy!
I don't think you need saturated fats, I think some are needed like the omega ones which come with oily fish such as salmon and tuna.

I just do everything I used to do normally but count the calories, sometimes I have saturated fats, sometimes not. As long as your choices are to maily have the good fats, olive oil say for frying things then you will probably naturally eat enough other fats by just eating lots of variety in your diet. I will post some of my recipes soon so you get an idea of what you can eat.
Sugar Sub's...Bad
Omega 3...Good
Oh I would love to see them recipes too lol

thanx for all the info.
I have posted some here JOY
