I had found a program through the EA forum that I had dl'd and used for some of my ul's - problem was it was playing havoc with not only the ul "size", but also with my game and my computer - so I had to uninstall it. Now that I have some lots I would like to ul, but want a decent picture for the ul - I can't remember where the program was, nor can I get on the forum at EA to try to find it - which might take me the rest of my life to do anyway ...
Does anyone know how to change the "automatic" ul picture without dl'g some other program to do it for you? It just seems like there should be a way to replace that tiny, tiny picture with a decent picture for uploading (and why in the world EA has never provided that capability - I'll never know) ... but what they provide with the game is ridiculously small and no one can even tell it's a house let alone what it looks like ... With Sims 2 we had SimPE which turned out to be an awesome tool. I don't like this program someone came up with for Sims 3 which is supposed to be along the same lines as SimPE, but isn't - it really messes with the size of the lot, big time and makes it hard to work with and to ul.
I am affraid I don't know another way other than using the postal program, I am totally in agreement with you that EA could have and should have included an easier way.

I may have to reinstall it then - but that means finding it again and dlg it again. Do you know the name of it? Or where I can find it?

Sorry I don't know Mel I rarely upload to the main site anymore I don't have time to mess about changing all the pics and strongly feel that EA could have added something for us to be able to add our pics if we had so wanted. I think the site must be down as i got an error message.
I think you can do it through the TSR thing, too, though I'm not SURE. I have downloaded that and installed it, but haven't had the time to EVEN investigate it yet (sigh).

Jacqui--do we have it listed here, anywhere? I think several others have asked about this, and I haven't had the definitive answer. Maybe you could put a link or something in the Hints/Tutorials area.
Oh, wonderful, Jacqui! I've downloaded it from that link, now. I didn't print out the instructions, but it seems pretty easy. I figure I can come back here to look up the link if I need to.

Oh that's fantastic Jac thank you so much for sharing that, I tried to change the upload pic when we first had TS3 last year and the method then was so fiddly I gave up, I'm going to try this and maybe I'll share a couple of my house's at the main site as I know that not everyone likes to DL from sites other than the TS3 one.

Well I have just uploaded a small lot using the program .... thank you so very much for posting that Jac it was just so easy... I think the pics don't look quite right but they are much better than the in game ones. I replaced three of them to see how it looked what do you think?

I have been computerless over the weekend - off and on. Mainly "off", as my husband has been busy changing out my Vista 64Bit for a Windows 7 64-Bit. He gave me more memory, more speed, more ... more... more ... (LOL!) I am now trying to get caught up and was so happy to click on this and see there are several package editors out there for changing those teeny tiny little bitty upload pictures!
Jacqui - I have just downloaded Zinda's! Thank you for posting that for us! I love the picture Hillcrest! What a difference! I had almost decided not to upload anything anymore to EA! Well - I hope I can figure it out, also!

) I love Windows 7! And the new computer is sooo much faster! They changed some wording (which I'll never understand why changes are made to perfectly good titles or headers ... just for the sake of change ...); other than figuring those out ... like what is easier than email??? Why would they change that??? It is now "Windows Live Mail" ... I had no idea what "Windows LIVE Mail" was and I sure didn't want to go there .... then I figured out that was their new "Words" for Email. Go figure ... Little things like that ... other than those, I've had no problems getting used to the new set-up. Meanwhile - because of the change over, I figured out what my problem was with the EA Launcher. After reinstalling 3 and WA, of course that put EA back in my start up - but before I remembered that, the launcher worked beautifully - never fail launch!! (With the other computer it never seemed to work!) Well - then I remembered I needed to take EA off my start-up and set EA to my choice when I want to bring it up. Well - back to launcher problems - most of the time it's a real battle getting the launcher to work - even though I bring up EA. So it must be some little nit picky thing about it not liking the fact I took it out of my start-up. Shouldn't make that big a difference as long as I bring it up first ... but it really does affect it. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to put it back so I don't constantly have to battle this problem....

As well as my contest lot - had to build one, too (even though I won't be entering it)... and there are a couple of homes I created for Pierre that I'd like to ul here. Lots on my plate to keep me busy. So sad, though - my (rl) house needs my attention and I've been ignoring it for far too long! Hope you are doing well!!

I stay logged in to as many places as I can. Those types of cookies don't hurt anything. When you're not logged in, they're not seeking through your computer to find anything else. All they do is hold your log-in information. Whether you log out or not, that cookie is still there, and the hacking part could happen from someone getting hold of your computer (from in or out of your house) and making use of the cookie...in the case of your websites, they wouldn't find anything, anyway, and they wouldn't get your passwords that way, because they're encoded into the cookies...not written out.
Here's how I set my game up to run.
When the installer runs, it puts the newest shortcut out on the desktop. This shortcut opens the LAUNCHER, from which you can then open the game. When the Launcher opens, EADM (the EA Download Manager) also opens, even though it's not needed. In most cases, the Launcher isn't needed in order to run the game, either.
So...I just rename THAT shortcut: TS3 Launcher.
Then I go to (in the case of the new SP):
C/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff/Game/Bin/TS3SP01.exe
If you don't have that SP, you'd just go to the Sims 3 folder for the last thing you installed, and find the name of the actual PROGRAM .exe file (NOT the one that says Launcher anywhere in it.
Once you find that file, right-click on it, and then choose SEND TO DESKTOP. Windows will make a shortcut out on the desktop for you. Rename THAT shortcut: TS3 (or TS3 Game) or something like that.
Then you can CHOOSE what you want to start, when you want to start it.
You can go directly into the game, therefore bypassing BOTH the Launcher AND EADM. Or you can go into the Launcher to have choices about updating, installing, uninstalling, going to the TS3 site, etc. You may or may not need EADM to be open, even for some of those options (i.e. installing and uninstalling things you've previously downloaded--I keep all those things in a separate folder for when I'm ready to run the Launcher). Just go to your Tray, then, and right-click the downloader, and EXIT the program.
It's all about choices.
The Launcher takes a LONG time to come up, no matter what. Whenever I double-click a Sims3Package file to install it, I go and do something else while I'm waiting for the Launcher to come up, which is expressly why I bypass the Launcher when I just want to play the game.
thanx for that Linda, I might see if that makes a difference on my game play not having that running, it shouldn't though. My launcher is working alot better since installing the new sp but now it is soo slow lol
From Day 1, I haven't even been able to PLAY the game, if I go through the Launcher! It only works for me if I bring it up separately.
