RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
Kat, this looks like a fabulous tutorial. I've been meaning to work on CC one of these days and I think I might actually start with paintings, so I'm going to need this. Thanks!

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
Thanks, SG, for following through and asking Kat about this. I was trying to use the DDS plug-in with GIMP, too, some months back, when learning to make new patterns, and it didn't work right for me, either!
Could you tell us what solved your problem? Lydia--I LOVE your new little puppy avatar!!! |

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
I'm so glad you got it to work Sim Knome! Although as Linda said if you can tell us how you worked it out that would be great for anyone having the same problem in the future.
I've just been to check out what you made and there are some lovely paintings! links are here: http://simgnome.wordpress.com/2009/09/25...odern-art/ http://simgnome.wordpress.com/2009/09/26...landscape/ Beautiful! Kat - Find my creations at:

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
I was going to try this, but it says to install the net framework you must uninstall first, I can't even find where to see what netframework I have and how to uninstall it if I need too. I have vista, anyone know where I can find install uninstall new programs or see what netframework version I have?

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
Here's the WIKI on it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Framework Here's the MSDN Download Page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframe...69263.aspx You can just start with 1 and go through the 3.x (I wouldn't pick up 4 yet). Some applications use the older versions, and some only need the newer ones. It's best to just have them all installed. In fact, the newer ones may not even install if the older ones aren't already in place. |

Forgot to mention...the control panel in Vista that corresponds to XPs Add New Programs, is "Programs and Features." It will list which .netframework you have already installed.

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
yay! I did it, but I'm confused by one thing, the thumbnail picture, I put a big blue astrick on it so it would show its custom in the catalouge, but the big blue astrick isn't on the thumbnail in the buy catalogue, so where did that picture go????? Its not showing up in game with a big blue asterik thank goodness_lol but that thumbnail must be for something?????
the texture is from the inspiration gallery

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
Hey Suze! Wow you and Linda sorted this whilst I was sleeping. Lol.
Love what you've done with it too ![]() the thumbnail pic is just that - a thumbnail that shows up in the catalogue like the other thumbnails. The only way you know it's custom content is be Reading the text I always put my name and website in the description box. Great work though! Kat - Find my creations at:

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
Thanks Kat!
It's strange though, that I can't figure out where the png file we make goes, because I made the png different from the original with a big big asterik on it, and when I brought it into the game there was no asterik to be seen so the mystery is where does the game use that png file? It wasn't in the catalouge with an asterik and it wasn't in the game with an asterik. I really want to figure out how to change the buy mode thumbnail so people can tell its custom not just for the pictures but for everything if I can :)

Ah so you're getting deep on us - lol.
I agree I'm not sure exactly where it puts the PNG in the package. Alll I know is that it works so it shows like the other paintings in the catalogue. If you figure it out - let us know! Kat - Find my creations at:

RE: How to make cloned custom paintings using GIMP
Very nice painting, Susan! Strange about the thumbnail thing!!! There must be a code string somewhere to make it keep the thumbnail YOU create, rather than use a default one the game makes when it first recognizes the object.

Although as soon as I can get back into the game and get a "crazy" shot of my simself, the cutie will be replaced.
